“Dance”

With its plethora of seeds - and brilliant red color - how could the pomegranate represent anything other than fertility in India? And what gem could better represent its seeds than spinels? Not well known even today, before the arrival of modern science, spinels and rubies were equally known as rubies (many famous rubies adorning the Crown Jewels of various countries are actually spinels).

An antique 20K-22K Indian pendant with bezel-set red spinel cabochons & a smooth emerald dangle on graduated faceted rondelles of very "gemmy" semi-transparent red spinel and 18K gold. Pendant drop 1 3/8".
