“Joie de Vivre”

Called "the bird with one hundred eyes" due to the eye-like patterns on its tail, the peacock is the national bird of India . Believed to be a harbinger of the monsoons and hence, fertility, the peacock"s yearly mating dance. At the sight of dark clouds the bird spreads out its tail and starts dancing in rhythmic fashion, strutting and displaying its feathers in an impressive fashion as if welcoming the gathering of clouds at the end of the summer.

Antique 20K-22K jeweled Mughal -style pendant of a "dancing peacock" with feathers of carved ruby/spinel, a head of uncut diamonds, an emerald body & an emerald & diamond dangle. Reverse side has a traditional enameled back. On18K chain with smooth emerald ovals. Pendant drop with dangle, 2 5/8".
