In India, a special category of adornment -- marriage ornaments, known as "thalis" -- serve to convey a married woman’s status. Considered an auspicious amulet, the design of the thali depends on the community to which the bride belongs and its customs. Each caste or religious sect has its own form that proclaims the wearer’s affiliation. Traditional thalis, usually in gold, some with embedded gems or colored glass, come in various forms and sizes.
An antique 20K-22K Indian thali is flanked by semi-transparent faceted yellow sapphire drops interspersed with antique 20K-22K Indian beads from the state of Odisha. On 18K gold hand-made chain.
